Figure 2: Government of Canada Program for IPY Science Proposal Review Process

Return to document

This figure is a flow chart which shows the IPY Science Proposal Review Process. The process began with the applicant submitting the proposal. The proposal was then reviewed for eligibility by the Canadian IPY 2007-2008 Office. Proposals that were deemed eligible for IPY funding were then distributed for peer review by external reviewers. In addition, proposals were reviewed by the Data Management Subcommittee and the Logistics, Infrastructure and Emergency Preparedness Subcommittee. Comments from the external review process were then passed along to the Review Panel on Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation and the Review Panel on Health and Well-being of Northern Communities. The proposals were then reviewed in a social/cultural review process in the Yukon, NWT, Nunavut, Nunavik and Nunatsiavut, followed by the Science Review Subcommittee which produced recommendations. Finally, these recommendations informed the final step of the process where funding decisions were made by the ADM Committee on IPY.
