With support from the Canadian IPY Program, the Royal Canadian Geographical Society has created a new theme on the IPY at a Glance dedicated to IPY and Arctic science, as well as an interactive map . Called Canada and the International Polar Year, the new theme features lively text, award-winning photography, superb Flash animations, games and quizzes, as well as teacher resources. Using state-of-the-art cartography, the highlight of the project is an interactive map that locates, describes and illustrates more than 50 IPY projects across Canada’s North. The map combines text, photographs and other forms of illustration in a dynamic, engaging and lively presentation of each project. It is an easy way to learn more about IPY research on topics ranging from sea ice to permafrost, arctic char to polar bears, and ancient civilizations to contemporary Inuit health. Canada and the International Polar Year is a comprehensive source of information on IPY in Canada, from its origins to the latest research findings. Uncover the mysteries of Canada’s great white North through the research and activities of IPY.
